NCLD Responds to OSERS Staff Cuts
This Administration has repeatedly stated, both publicly and privately, that it wants to support students with disabilities. Yet by laying off nearly all of the staff at the Department who provide critical oversight and support, they are directly undermining the statutory protections Congress established under IDEA 50 years ago. These actions will have devastating consequences for our most vulnerable students, removing accountability, transparency, and essential safeguards. At the National Center for Learning Disabilities, we remain steadfast in our commitment to these students and their families. We will continue to advocate tirelessly, hold leaders accountable, and fight to ensure that every student with a disability receives the support, protections, and opportunities they deserve.
