NCLD Responds to OSERS Staff Cuts
This Administration has repeatedly stated its commitment to supporting students with disabilities. Yet by laying off nearly all of the staff at the Department responsible for oversight and enforcement, it is actively undermining the very protections Congress established under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 50 years ago. These cuts will have devastating consequences—eroding accountability, weakening transparency, and stripping away essential safeguards for our most vulnerable students.
At the National Center for Learning Disabilities, we stand firm in our commitment to these students and their families. We will continue to hold leaders accountable, push for transparency, and fight to ensure every student with a disability receives the support, protection, and opportunity they are guaranteed under the law.
