Scott Gaynor, Ed.D. Head of School Stephen Gaynor School
Scott Gaynor has been the Head of School of Stephen Gaynor School since 1994. In addition to this role, he has served as an adjunct professor at Bank Street College Graduate School of Education. Dr. Gaynor holds a doctorate in education from Columbia University Teachers College and a master’s in business administration from New York University Stern School of Business. He has served on several non-profit boards, including the New York State Association of Independent Schools (President and Board Member), the Independent School Association of Admissions for Greater New York, Rodeph Sholom School and The Meeting House.
Scott and his wife, Lauren Pruzan Gaynor, have raised three children on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. When Dr. Gaynor’s children attended the local public schools, he was a parent representative on the school leadership teams. He also mentors a high school student through the iMentor program.
Why have you chosen to be a member of the Board of Directors at the National Center for Learning Disabilities??
Through my professional experiences, I have come to value the unlimited potential of children with learning disabilities. Helping these incredible children understand themselves as a learner and how to advocate for themselves has inspired me to support children beyond the borders of Stephen Gaynor School. NCLD is the ideal platform to fulfill my desire to advocate for individuals with learning disabilities n
