Challenging Change: How Schools and Districts Are Improving the Performance of Special Education Students

This report is dedicated entirely to a review of the activities that schools and districts have undertaken to increase the academic success of their special education students. These activities include a variety of strategies for success—strategies selected for the unique circumstances of each school or district and combined in specific ways to work within their individual environments. The creators of these efforts did not try to reinvent the wheel—they relied upon techniques developed and proven by research to be effective in improving student learning.
