Erik von Hahn, M.D.

Erik von Hahn is board-certified in General Pediatrics and also in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics. He completed a two-year fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry following his specialty training in developmental-behavioral pediatrics. He currently works at the Floating Hospital for Children in Boston, and has an academic appointment as Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Tufts University School of Medicine.

Early in his career, Erik recognized the difficulty that school professionals often have in their interactions with the health care system. He developed a special interest in working collaboratively with schools. Erik not only conducts diagnostic evaluations of children with disabilities in a clinic setting. He also has formal consultative relationships with Boston-area public and private schools.

Erik is always interested in providing a clinical perspective on any disability that a child or student may have, and to support that student’s overall growth and development. However, this work truly takes a village. A major focus of his evaluation reports and his consultative relationships is to also strengthen partnerships between all of the adults working on behalf of the student: Parents, school professionals, and health care providers. Erik is interested in the work of the NCLD because of its focus on creating deeper understanding and strengthening partnerships. By participating on the Professional Advisory Board, he hopes to highlight the role that clinical disciplines can play in supporting the child with special learning needs.
